It seems like I can and if I don’t live in the area I need to use a schijf.
But that doesn’t make sense. If I don’t use a schijf what’s the difference? How can they even tell I’m not a local?
There seems to be no limit on how long I can park here either, but that makes the schijf doubly pointless, no?
Am I missing something?
Parkeren met parkeerschijf is in België standaard voor 2 uur. Tenzij met een bijkomend bord eronder iets anders gespecificeerd is.

Depends when…driver license?
By day you have to use the card, and you can park for 2 hours.
On sundays and overnight you don’t need to put your card.
If you arrive at 18h, you can put your card for 2 hours and then stay the rest of the night. If you arrive after 20h, you can put your card at 8 and stay until 10 in the morning.
Locals can get a “bewonerskaart” and don’t need to put the parking card.

Taal-gewijs kan dit twee dingen betekenen…
Wilt dit zeggen dat je NIET mag parkeren – BEHALVE van maandag tot zaterdag, maar dan met de kaart.
Of wil dit zeggen dat je ALTIJD mag parkeren, maar dat je tussen die uren je kaart moet leggen.
Puur grammaticaal gezien is het zeer dubbelzinnig… ik interpreteer het dus als, ik mag hier ALTIJD staan, maar moet tussen die uren mijn kaart leggen.
You can park for free on the parking on the left, at least until 20h (17h on match days). It’s the consultants parking for Telenet, nobody checks if the entry/exit.
Is that in Mechelen? i used to work nearby I think…
