hi, tourist. trying to understand how to get from Budapest to Keszthely. I found this site, https://jegy.mav.hu/, and it gives me a few options that depart from Deli.
1. can I trust the information given in this site? will there actually be trains departing at the time this site says?
2. I plan to take a night train from Budapest-Deli, can I just get there at around 2AM and purchase a ticket on the spot? Or is there some other way I should operate?
Köszönöm!

Yeah, https://jegy.mav.hu is the official site, you can trust it, I always buy my train tickets there. This, however, does not mean that there is not going to be some last minute hailstorm and your departure be delayed/canceled
I wouldn’t buy my ticket on the spot (I’m not even sure the ticket office is open at 2am). I’d buy them online instead; it’s easy and even a little bit cheaper than the paper ticket.
Also, in my opinion, if you can choose, you should opt for an “INTERCITY” train because they have AC, curtains, power plugs etc
Not sure what takes you to Keszthely but if the weather improves and you have time to go to the beach, the next village has a much nicer one imo. It’s called Gyenesdiás although my English friends call it buenos dias.
