  1. Underlines the terrible spot PiS has put Poland in. Poland’s friends in Europe now are just pro-Russian Fidesz and just one of the far-right French candidates, maybe Salvini. But none of them want to actually create anything resembling an alliance due to the intermarium-like paranoia over their own power and relevance.

    Even the US, which Poland has banked all of its security on, has been alienated because PiS banked all its goodwill on a toxic mayfly president.

    It might not be Europe’s greatest act of self-harm in the 21st century, but it’s up there.
