Lithuania produces three times less electricity than it consumes – why?

  1. Because of glorious referendum of 2012. Thanks Karbauskis for saving us from electricity production!

  2. Cos the whole goverment curent and žassed is corrupt as fuck and rather than provide some good stuff to the citizens they would rather stuff theyr bellies

  3. Well, we also produce less drugs, medical devices, automobiles, trains, planes and many other goods and services. We produce so much more VPNs than we use, but this comparison is flawed because VPNs are not essential. It boils down to where investments have the best ROI, where the cost of production is lowest, where alternative uses for the factors of productions cannot be relatively employed to produce something else.

  4. Because imports are cheaper. Fossil fuels are imported and therefore expensive and until recently cheap electricity could be imported from Belarus and Russia. So gas/oil plants were not competitive and renewables were also not competitive price-wise until recently.
