Homicides in Europe

  1. [Source](https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/VC.IHR.PSRC.P5).

    Created with MapChart.

For the UK; [they had 0.99 in England and Wales in the year ending in March 2021](https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/crimeandjustice/articles/homicideinenglandandwales/yearendingmarch2021); given how Scotland and NI are usually a bit higher it would be in the 1.00 – 1.24 range, but not having the exact number I did not put it in.

No idea why Belgium is so delayed.

Note that as usual the numbers for very low population states (the microstates + Iceland, Luxembourg) are not that indicative and much more randomic.

  2. Russia declares itself as a country of „healthy”, conservative values. You can clearly see that on this map.

  3. It’s actually kind of interesting how there is little obvious correlation apart from “Russia = bad”.

I guess “Central Europe = good” is another pattern?

  4. Inb4 you zoom out:

    USA 5.

    Brazil 30.

    Mexico 30.

    South Africa 35.

    Nigeria 35.

    Venezuela 37.

    Jamaica 47.

    El Salvador 53.
