Why don’t the local councils get involved & install solar panels on all council owned buildings?
Getting solar panels installed is super hard atm
Mmm competitive prices, we’ll see.
If you hope to buy a 4kw system with a good quality battery it’s going to set you back at least 15k installed. But the savings could be great. We’ve generated 376kw so far this month, but without a battery most of this gets sold back to the grid without a battery
n.b. a number of councils participate in this scheme – [there’s a full list here](https://solartogether.co.uk/landing). Prices were a bit below open market quotes, but be prepared to accept the quote fairly quickly – my local county council’s scheme was heavily subscribed this year and they had to close it after 3x the number of people who would normally accept the quote did so.
Solar to local batteries and non exporting to the grid is a great idea and every new house should have it as part of the regulations.
Solar to be exported to the grid is asking for a dirty energy network and is just asking for a multitude of issues.
With the banning of new gas boilers we need financial aid to install anything that can lower the running costs.
It’s rubbish. My area is part of the same scheme. The chosen contractor has come in more expensive than other quotes we’ve had, for supplying a lower spec system than their competitors. One to avoid.
