“Don’t exploit migrants for politics”, the pope says, whilst exploiting migrants for his own political views.
A bit too late isn’t it?
> “The remote causes should be attacked, not the poor people who pay the consequences and are even used for political propaganda,” he said.
I agree with that, however,
migration is an issue and people are entitled to discuss it – if the public consider it a problem, then it is a problem. It is incredibly difficult to separate migrants from migration and this is as applicable to the political left as it is to the political right – migrants are regularly valorised by the left in the identical way that they are criticised by the right.
> “Tango Mukaya, a 30-year-old refugee from the Democratic Republic of Congo (…) Joshue, an 18-year-old refugee from Congo”
In 2017 the average EU acceptance rate for Congolese nationals was 23%, the average acceptance rate for the preceding five years was 22%.
>refugee island
Gotta love those terms.. I’m sure the 90.000 native people living and working on Lesbos will be delighted to know that they’re absolutely irrelevant /s
I imagine its already a major part of local politics for years. Irs a big issues that effects the island.
Their Island has had its tourist reputation hit, reports in media about various camps and such.
While not as bad as those landing obviously, its going to have effected things for those who live in the area. Natural their representation will reflect this.
This is very easy the fix. We should send all this migrants to the Vatican, after all its one of the riches institutions of the world. Pope can sleep with them, pilow partys.
