*This indicates the caloric availability delivered to households but does not necessarily indicate the number of calories actually consumed*
How is the “caloric availability delivered to households” calculated?
I walked past Iceland once and the meal deal was, red lemonade, tayto, white bread and butter.
Surely obesity per capita or similar are better measurements. If people are eating a lot of calories but aren’t getting fat then it stands to reason they’re exercising enough to manage the calorie intake.
Given the amount of calories in pints of beer and stout are you surprised?
Hot chicken rolls will be the end of us
A lot of the fast food we eat is very rich in calories, chicken fillet rolls and breakfast rolls for example.
OP: Ireland has the highest consumption of calories per capita in the world
The actual link posted: Daily supply of calories per person, 2018
Daily per capita caloric supply is measured in kilocalories per person per day. This indicates the caloric availability delivered to households but does not necessarily indicate the number of calories actually consumed.
These are two different things.
For all the people who use these kinds of things to feel empowered to hate fat people, etc., how do you reconcile your moralising about people’s weight with the fact that life expectancy in Ireland is higher than ever, higher than the EU average, and does not seem to show signs of slowing down?
