Good for him. The lowest got £26,000. He’s showing great solidarity with his fellow workers who all deserve better pay.
And what does this person do? Maybe the payments fits the responsibilities?
And what about the lowest paid?
And how about the many others who earned nowhere near that?
I applaud this guy for standing in solidarity with those not as fairly compensated as himself, at potential risk to his own comfortable situation, rather than being a selfish “I’ve got mine, fuck you, I’m pulling up the ladder” type
It’s a truly surreal part of the British psyche that this sort of crabs in a bucket nonsense actually somewhat works.
Demand better conditions, for yourself, and others, and for a system that makes that easier. Currently it’s a post-thatcher nightmare where the country is run simpletons and lunatics who have basically halted wage growth for nearly a half generation.
And his job is (at least in part) to advocate for the lowest paid, and the rest. I fail to see a problem here. The question is, why does this grotty little shithole of an island get so, so pissed off about ‘ordinary’ people earning a good wage? I bet this guy is really experienced, and he does a great job.
> The top-paid worker currently on strike at the UK’s biggest container port earned more than £86,000 in the last year, **port bosses have revealed**.
Why would they do this? I feel like this would take some super-psychology to figure out.
I guess it’ll remain a mystery.
Of course, the real question is, why have the news media decided to run this story? What and whose agenda does it serve? Whose side are ‘the news’ on? Why are they even on a side?
Its almost as if unions have members from higher up that also strike in solidarity.
Good for him, going on strike to support his colleagues earning less. That’s true brotherhood, there.
The usual divide and conquer bullshit tactics. So what if he earns £86k? Are unions only legitimate if pay their workers minimum wage?? Good for that man. He earns more than me and I’m happy for him. Unions do good work and I hope they are able to raise pay and working conditions for all of the working class
And ? Average was 43 with overtime which you cannot rely upon lowest paid are below 30k.
These kinda articles really fucking annoy me. Who cares how much the guy that worked every shift going made. What did the lowest earning guy that did no overtime make ? That’s what we want to know.
Pure propaganda. Nothing more, nothing less.
People of Felixstowe, do you reckon it’s time to come to your senses and stop voting tory?
And???
He either has a high responsibility or highly skilled job.
Or he’s the guy doing all the overtime/ shifts people don’t want.
If he was stealing all the overtime people would have words
Comment about the exception to deny the legitimacy the remainder much less well paid.
Good for that person for supporting their fellows.
So? He’s in the union, the union have decided to strike. He’s not obligated to cross a picket line just because he personally is on a decent salary.
Thats still 20k less than MP’s.
And isn’t the average.
Article missing the point on purpose.
If you make 86k, you can afford to show some solidarity with your fellow workers on fuck all, and not cross their picket line.
Same shit they pulled in Coventry, ONE earned that much so everyone else can be paid shit wages?
Is that all? I’m glad they’re striking then.
You’re going to see a lot of this as strikes continue. Very often companies haven’t a leg to stand on when it comes to heart of the issue about pay and standards at work, so they’ll increasingly resort to bizarre statements like these.
I just wonder how long it will be before it devolves into “union leader owns home, has car, is enemy of the people”.
So someone on a high wage shouldn’t strike for a payrise?
Let’s freeze all pay above £80k in the UK and see what happens. There will be a few editors at newspapers on strike for a start.

It is not worker vs worker; it is rich vs poor.
Stop trying to divide.
