I know I know it’s satire but people are rightfully angry. How often have you heard Limburgish on “Flemish media”? Or even a Limburgish accent? The regional programming were the last peanuts Limburg got from the state-funded media, we are already completely ignored. Every rare mention in the news has to be “yes this happened in this town… which is by the way in Limburg”, which is rarely done for other provinces. There are zero “BV’s” who speak occasional Limburgish apart from the ones who only speak with an accent and are generally used to make fun of (Fabrizio or de Smos in Safety First).
For contrast: the Netherlands has a separate public broadcaster for Limburg, L1, with unique content for Limburg and a separate news desk (1Limburg). They produce actual content in the Limburgish language on the radio, television and on 1Limburg. They have actual celebrities who speak Limburgish, the language as well as the accent. Yes they’re not on equal footing with the rest of the Netherlands at all, but as a Belgian Limburger this difference can piss you off.
Heb vroeger nog geleerd op school dat ge met ne patat ook een radio kon maken…
Fuck Peter Van De Veire (maar niet letterlijk want ik wil niet in de buurt van die fluo sokken dragende creeper komen)
