Hi,
Anybody knows a place in the south where I could let somebody look at my disc drive? It worked fine, but I opened the PS5 because it made quite a bit of noise, thinking that I could fix the problem, I couldn’t, and made it worse, can’t insert my disk anymore, I assume that it still works, I’m just not sure how to fix it and I definetly won’t pay 250€ to let it be “repaired” from Sony.
Worst case I’d rather wait a few months (or years) to get a used ps5 on the Facebook marketplace or a new one when they are finally in store again and Sony lowers the price back to 500 -_- .
Edit: Well, actually fixed it just now, took the entire disc drive apart and reassembled it and it works fine now, I did leave a disc inside before reassembling so maybe that changed something and kept the gears and other things in the right place. It’s also quite a bit quieter now, so that nice aswell, finally back to the forbidden west!
Noise before I touched it: https://youtu.be/DpgZQhZhWVE Maybe you understand why I felt the need to change that… 😀 Did that noise after every boot (from standby) of the PS5, ejecting the disc and reinsert ING it got rid of the noise to be fair, but that still not something I wanted to live with.
Glad that it’s not possible to simply buy new ones in store right now since I was allready looking for new ones since the drive stopped working two or three weeks ago. Sucks for people that want a ps5 ofc but prevented me from “wasting” 500€, sry, 550€ and that I wasn’t willing to pay nearly 300€ to sent it to Sony for them to repare it.

Quick tip, from back in the days. Try a [reset](https://www.techwalla.com/articles/how-to-reset-a-cddvd-drive) if possible. It may be too old and new disc drives for consoles have other mechanics, but maybe it gets you an idea where to look
Edit: maybe to a factory reset of ps5 or start it in safe mode. You said you can’t insert a disc, I assume there is no disc still in? Just to check for the basics
