You could try to go to a ticket counter and ask if they take it back. Sometimes it works. Try looking for a “VBB” counter or “DB Reisezentrum”.
You can try talking to the firm, they might return you the money, provided you can explain the situation. In my case i had some similar problem but not in Berlin and i went to the regional train center and explained that i accidentally added 3x tickets on the automat and payed for it. They entertained my request and refunded me the money for 2 extra tickets i accidentally purchased. Its worth trying.
