Tory Jacob Rees-Mogg attacks ‘rotten culture’ of civil servants working from home: The Old Etonian with a house five minutes’ walk from Parliament – who has been touted as Liz Truss’s future Levelling-Up Secretary – complained the number of civil servants turning up to the office was ‘hopeless’

The Tories haven’t worked in over a month during this cost of living crisis and Mr 1670s* himself has the audacity to complain about people working from home.
I wasn’t sure what “leveling-up” included in this context, but Wikipedia clarified for me:
> The Financial Times reported that the methodology used by the levelling up scheme to determine which areas would receive funds ignored most standard indicators of poverty, and classified 14 areas with higher-than-average wealth levels as “priority one” regions, ahead of more deprived areas. The report noted that all 14 areas had Conservative Party MPs, and its analysis found that Conservative-voting areas were consistently prioritised over poorer Labour-voting areas.
Ah yes, now I understand.
Id like to see JRM do the work and live the life of a EO or HEO civil servant in something like Immigration, Boarder Force or Policing and Security policy for 6-8 months. When he sees the benefits and efficiency of WFH compared with the saving it gives many lower grades, he might change his tune.
Many of our lower grades are telling management that they are literally going to have to choose between coming to the office or eating/heating.
Even the mirror is pointing out how out of touch JRM is. And the Mail, despite running the odd story, has their comment section full of people in support of increased WFH. The man doesn’t have a clue.
Until JRM can demonstrate that he even understands what many civil servant do, the stresses they are under and the life many of them are leading, he can, quite frankly, go and fuck himself.
They care more about their civil servants than the fucking cost of living and energy crisis.
The worst thing about this is that working from home has been policy since at least 2014.
There is deliberately less desk space than headcount.

If Jacob Rees-Mogg is the solution, God help us all
WFH is a welcome blessing for those who threw thousands of pounds a year into the commuting costs bin and wasted weeks of time in cars, trains or buses (often while pumping out CO2 from their vehicles)
What kind of monster would be against WFH? And how would they treat the workers they had coerced back to the office?
I used to be a civil servant.
What’s hopeless is the pittance you are payed for the amount of pressure you are under.
Not to mention the nature of some of the work you are dealing with.
Start paying people their worth.
He will be shocked to hear that our caretaker PM has been on two holidays within a month. That our Chancellor went on holiday as well and supposedly worked remotely too.
But it’s the civil service who are the bad guys.
But he hasn’t finished listing all the brexit benefits yet. I hope he stays and trains his replacement.
His current boss hasn’t turned up for work for months and is now on a Greek beach. No one cares if someone is Skyping from home. I worry more about a weird Victorian cosplayer snooping around corridors spying on folk

Because working in an office is soul-destroying. Quality of life improves vastly without it.
More civil servants working from home means less people he can haunt with his presence like the fucking ghoul he is
Most workplaces have defined policies that outline how often their employees are required in the office.
If Mogg says his staff are “hopeless” because of working with the contracts he agreed with them, I can only assume he’s a hopeless boss that has no business telling the country how it should be run.
Theres a rotten culture of MP’s giving their mates public money and not doing anything to help society at large.
But yeah its WFH thats the problem /S
I literally cannot understand why anybody would vote for this ghoul. He is a caricature of a dickins villain.
A friend of mine who is a relatively high level civil servant came back from his recent paternity leave to find movement sensors on all the desks in his office.
Great use of taxpayers money there Jake!
Mogg still thinks the typewriter and ballpoint pens are modern working practices, let alone computers and the internet. His real concern is real estate prices, however he is also a legacy of a bygone era, where work was based upon being in an office for set hours and required wearing a suit to get anything done. He cannot conceive that his views are not only outdated but wrong. He does not understand efficiency and that people can be just as productive, if not more, away from a formal office setting.
This miserable old cunt with have to pry WFH from my cold dead hands. That said, I don’t work in the civil service.
JRM doesn’t have a computer on his desk. He’s not working from work.
Why don’t you just fuck off with this weird obsession with people working from home and get on with actually sorting the country out?
Sorry, Rees-Mogg, the misogynist from the 18th century, has been touted to be the future Levelling-Up secretary? Seriously?
Maybe if JRM had worked a real job in his life he’d actually be able to understand.
It will be interesting watching the Tories U-Turn on Work From Home when industry bosses realise how much it will cost to run their offices this winter.
Little wanker who hasnt worked a day in his life, always the same
The party of the landlord will always protect property and landlords which what this is all about.
Jacob Rees-Mogg is acting like every unnecessary middle manager who discovered during the pandemic that their team can actually do their job perfectly well without all the meetings, team building, assessments and clock-watching that necessitates their position, and are now desperate for everyone to get back to the office before someone higher up notices that THEY are surplus to requirements.
This is a man who doesn’t have a computer on his desk. Any comments he makes on efficiency should be entirely ignored
Very professional man lying down in the house of commons. What an arsehole
Buy a suit that fits for once you fucking animate twiglet.
This prick needs to shut the fuck up forever. A mega-rich righty plucked from 1879 who’s never worked a day in his life has the audacity to dictate how other people should work.
A WFH/hybrid approach is the future. Saves commuting time, boosts productivity, saves money, etc etc. The only reason Mogg is attacking it is because other righties have money invested in office space that’s being used less.
But then again, why would the ol’ Moggtard ever modernise his ideas? He’s still stuck on gay marriage and forcing rape victims to give birth to their rapists’ babies because his magic god says so.
This man is a cancerous tumour on the ideology of this country and he must be excised. His power, titles and resources must be stripped from him. I’d love to watch him try to take care of his 6 kids on minimum wage. Better still, given the legion of butlers and nannies he has, I’d love to watch him take care of his kids.
Oh, sweet fecking irony. The Haunted Victorian Pencil, one of laziest, greediest and morally bankrupt politicians we’ve seen in decades has the nerve to attack other people’s work ethic, while he and his Etonian chums make a mockery of our law, government and institutions to line their own pockets and have left us currently rudderless in a time of grave national and global crisis. Worst government in 159 years.
As a Civil Servant, I am tired, hopeless, badly paid and struggling on daily basis with low morale. How to keep motivated if the government we work for, is constantly demonising you on the press? It is TIRING, this government is bullying us and trying to force us to look like the bad guys.
JUST LET ME GET ON WITH MY WORK.
