I’m a Norwegian resident currently visiting my family in the US for Xmas (seeing them for the first time in 18 months). But all of these suggestions of “massive” new restrictions coming today, which will touch on “every facet of life” has me currently having full scale panic attacks. I wish they would just announce the restrictions!

Do people think there is a chance they will suddenly close the border? Should I be giving up on Xmas and flying home already? How is everyone else dealing with this all?

EDIT: New rules, for those interested: https://www.vg.no/nyheter/innenriks/i/8Qjxr2/regjeringen-innfoerer-flere-nasjonale-tiltak

  1. Im meant to be going on friday !!! guess the announcement today might be cancelling my trip for me… think they should be announced soon

  2. If you’re a resident, there might be some restrictions on travel to Norway, like mandatory quarantine and of course testing but they won’t close the border for citizens or residents, maybe tourists.

  3. Ok.. Where in Norway.. We lived there for 8 years and learned to smuggle from Denmark

We can send stuff in Europe.. Tax free .

  4. Just saw all the updates – I thought it would be worse to be honest. Looks like hospitality will continue to be fairly normal for the most part from what I translate.

  5. One thing which worries me is that the previous round of restrictions only came 5 days ago. The situation changes so fast that you never know when more serious measures are going to be announced. The worst thing would be if all non-citizens were banned from entry (including residents) while you were still abroad.
