  1. If it’s in response to wholesale prices, why is the standing charge going up, again, too?

This isn’t passing on price increase. It is price gouging, it is war profiteering, and systems need to be put in place to prevent predatory companies attacking decent people like this.

  2. Dont worry lads, Martin, Leo and Eamonn will be out this evening to say they are “very concerned” and are going to “monitor the situation”

  3. Any day now energy companies will stop all this and say they’re happy with their profits.

Remember to plug out your TV at night and shop around, that’ll help

    /s

  4. How can there not be a major recession with all the extra spending to go on energy….all the businesses having to up their prices to pay for energy

  5. Had a guy from SSE at my door the other day asking if I know that BordGais is upping their prices. Asked him who isn’t? He said SSE wasn’t …. well look at that.

  6. Between this, insurance, interest rates, price of food, price of materials, price of childcare, price of rent, property values, lack of property, lack of opportunities, poor healthcare services, poor services in general, I think we’re on the path to post-covid recovery, don’t you? Did i miss anything?

  7. Anyone care to explain how a company which markets itself as clean green wind power and named itself same doing this

Did wind power suddenly get more exponentially more expensive??

  8. will their “record profits” match, like the last increase? Of course, prices will go up with the global situation, but I’ve no idea what the point is of the EU’s “consumer protection laws” as long as energy companies continue to exploit an energy crisis to price gouge for profit.

  9. Has the cost of wind and sunlight gone up? 42% of all electricity generated in Ireland comes from renewable sources. Also 60% of Irelands gas comes from Ireland.

  10. I’ve literally just paid the highest bill I’ve ever had here and my estimated costs since are already at 40 euro.

I installed a solar unit upstairs just to charge all USB devices and provide some lighting at night; used every night without fail and still, still the bill keeps rising.

Any attempt to reduce is instantly nullified by the greed of this vultures.

State run one off payments for the vulnerable and a few cents off bus fares isn’t going to cut it, people will suffer immensely!

  11. Switched to them a few weeks ago. Locked in to 12 months for a 20% discount. That is now close to a 20% price rise. This sort of ripoff price increases should be a contract voiding move and free customers to switch again.

  12. Can someone explain why this is happening? Like in terms of gas, we’re not reliant on European supplies to any great extent are we? So why the price hikes?
