Ah, Plod. Fucking useless. Just as useless as the excuses for parents of these shitstains. I know it’s the Mail, but at the same time, if the law isn’t gonna help you look after nice things, nobody will do nice things anymore, and this already grim shithole gets just that bit worse.
Were they told off? Were they really? It’s not against the law to film anyone in public.
The police also literally told them to lock them in the bowling green until they arrived. So did the police ignore them?
Nice story to get the Mail commenters frothing.

This is the only part of the article that mentions police telling the individual not to record the group. The use of the phrase “taking a video” as opposed to a mention of recording them on CCTV, as is spoken about in the rest of the article, makes me suspect the police weren’t commenting on the use of CCTV.
It seems quite possible that this was one of the victims pulling their phone out and filming the group whilst police deal with them. Is such behavior illegal? No, hence the lack of any legal enforcement against such behavior. However it’s annoying and distracting to the officers that are there, and invariably causes further issues with the local community if it gets put on social media. There’s nothing wrong with asking a person to stop filming something, because ultimately, it’s a request, not an instruction.
Is the bowling green a public space? Were there signs saying CCTV recording? I have no expectations of privacy in a public space, however in a private place. In a private place with CCTV recording signs I assume I am being recorded.
I’ve not read the fine article, in what context did the police tell off the bowls club?
