Landlord politicians may have to declare housing contracts amid overhaul of ethics regime

  1. “may” have to, and if they don’t what’ll happen? We’ve yet to see anyone punished for any rule breaking?

  2. Even Donald trump had to step away from all his business when he was president ……(not a great example I know)

  3. You can be a Landlord OR a Politician but you shouldn’t be ALLOWED to be both. It’s a conflict of interest, especially when these Landlord Politicians get to vote on laws that they have a literally vested interest in blocking.

  4. I’m not against TDs having properties, but having to expose their contracts is definitely a good idea.

  5. Tbh I don’t understand why any renter would vote for a landlord TD. Not saying it’s impossible that they want to reduce rents but it would totally go against their investment goals

  6. Overhaul of the ethics regime? Are they on fucking crack? We need a massive overhaul of our anti corruption laws that carry fucking jail time for anyone caught acting the cunt. Fuck the IT and their shitty government sponsored propaganda.

  7. Mao was right about landlords and we need to do the same to exploitative landlord politicians here.

  8. When confronted about what a FF TD was going to do for east Galway, the only answer we got was “sure we didn’t fuck the country, FG did”.

Got no votes in our house

  9. A lot of really bad takes here.

HAP is organized by the tenent. If a politician was unable to be paid HAP, they would have to discriminate about those tenants. Absolutely can not be done.

Anyone can apply for council lease schemes for houses. Why would you not allow a politician be part of this. The schemes are long term and generally fixed price.
