Last night I heard some gas/liquid moving in the wall heater so I checked the thermostat and it was set to 3. I don’t know how long it has been on for but is it possible for it to turn by itself since it sort of locks in when it’s off?
I found a pic of the Danfoss thermostat online and it looks [like this](https://obrazki.elektroda.pl/3297504200_1528789466.jpg). I usually keep it on the ❄ when I’m not using it throughout the year for “frost protection”. The thermostat has teeth (similiar to gears) between the ❄ and the 0, so when I turn it off it should lock in, and I’m thinking I may have not turned it all the way off and it slowly turned.
I checked their website and from what I understood, setting it to 3 will heat up to 20°C before stopping. My apartment is usually in the 25-30°C range these days (even at night), but last night I opened the window to let my laundry dry and apparently the temperature dropped enough for the thermostat to start working. So now I’m worried how much gas was actually used and if I will need to donate blood to cover the bill since prices are so high now.

What is far more likely is that you, someone living with you or a pet have brushed by the handle and accidentally turned it. Could have happened weeks ago and only now was it cool enough that the termostate triggered something
