  1. “His list of previous convictions include assault, production of a knife, and possession of a firearm after being caught with a sawn-off rifle for which he received a lengthy jail term.”

And he is walking free. Seriously the irish justice system is sickening. And we accept it…

  2. Called this weeks ago, got downvoted to shit. This is Ireland lads, you do jail time for a gram of hash and fuck all else.

    Edit: spelling and punctuation

  3. If there aren’t going to be more prisons built to house these scumbags long terms bring back the death penalty because this guy is clearly not fit to be in our society.

  4. Oh no! This is awful! They let the Independent publish his name?! This is outrageous, they are going to stigmatize him!

If only there were more public sports facilities he wouldn’t be out there stabbing fascist pigs! This is our fault, not his!

  5. On one hand it’s obviously really bad but at the same time if the gards don’t give a fuck about protecting us from scumbags (which they don’t) then I find it hard to sympathize with them not feeling protected themselves here.

  6. Can someone from a legal background explain whats going on before we have a collective aneurism.

Why is our prison and judicial system so broken?

  7. So can someone explain to my why our judges are so lax on criminals, especially all this anti social behaviour with teens and the like?

I mean surely these judges live in Ireland, can see what is happening and read the same newspapers we do. Why do you reckon is their thinking behind light sentences?

Is it a lack of places to jail these folks? A lack of political will? A lack of alternative rehabilitation solutions? Like wtf is going on……

  8. The problem here is he was charged with attempted murder but let plead guilty to a lesser charge for which he was sentenced to 2.5 years. He’d been on remand for two years so had already served most of his sentence. The DPP shouldn’t have dropped the attempted murder charge
