Hi, we are from England and we adopted a cat in Bosnia, we got her a chip, all vaccinations and a passport.

We are looking to go back and cross through Croatia for Slovenia and so on.

We hear that the Croatian border authorities need some sort of a certificate to prove that we are not going to sell the cat (she’s 4-5 months old) to fighting competitions.

Do we need such thing?

I have checked here:

But I am unable to find it

  1. other than having the chip/transponder and a EU pet passport, I don’t think you need or can get anything else

you will probably have to sign a statement saying you won’t sell the cat, and the transponder ID will be in the system, and if the “owner” is changed you might get a call and/or visit from authorities asking if you sold the cat – that’s my best guess

there is no way to prove you don’t intend to sell the cat, so that was probably either BS or some misunderstanding

  2. As long as you have a pet passport and your name inside as the owner no-one at the border will ask you for anything else, chances are they won’t even check the pet passport as soon as they see it.

  3. Nope, that’s not a requirement.

But, just in case, when did you vaccinate the cat? I think you need to wait for a whole month before they are allowed to cross the border if it’s first vaccination.

  4. You need TRACES to migrate the cat from one country to another. It should be issued by bosnian veterinarian.
