Edit: So, first of all, thank you all for suggestions. Update is here: I had few on toast for breakfast, but burned bread in combo with it made it a little bit bitter and weird so that is why I asked you here. Now, for dinner, I tried it on fresh bread with a little bit of hot chili pepper because I misread what you all said LOL or you actually meant chilly pepper and not just like, pepper as spice? Anyway, it was so much better.

Kaviar is fish roe, and the type you show here is commonly eaten on a piece of bread.
Slice of bread with sliced up boiled eggs and kaviar on top.

Q. “How do you eat ________ in Norway?”
A. “Slice of bread with ________ on top.”
Great on eggs! Many people also eat it on top of gulost (“normal” white cheese slices).
I also use it on white cheese or eggs… I use it on boiled, fried eggs and scrambled eggs tho😊 Alot use it on a slice of bread with no more added to it, or with mayo
It really is caviar. It’s not russian-style caviar made from beluga roe, but it is caviar.
You can eat it alone on sliced bread with butter (not very common but I like it), or on sliced bread with butter, caviar, sliced boiled eggs, and maybe canned herring (King Oscar’s) if you want. That’s a proper fancy sunday breakfast in Norway
On a slice of bread with Norvegia or Jarlsberg cheese.
As many already have pointed out it’s usually eaten on a slice of bread with slices of hard boiled egg.
It can be a little intense, so try to spread a thin layer of it on the bread the first time and continue from there.
You can combine it with mayoneese, block cheese or boiled egg. I think all of those go well on a slice of bread
Whatever you do be sure to pair it with a glass of fresh orange juice
Sometimes I’ll take a slice of cheese (e.g. Norwegia or whatever brand you like), put a single line of caviar, and eat like that.
Cod roe spread, so not actually real caviar. Often eaten with boiled eggs.
Boiled chicken eggs with fish eggs on top is nice
I like it with some seedy knäckebröd and prästost, with a line of caviar on top
Usually on bread with boiled eggs.
Also works on bread with mayo.
Either slice of bread with sliced boiled eggs.
Or, smeared across a slice of bread with some pepper and some herb twig on it 🙂
Om.n bread with sliced hardboiled eggs or cheese.
You mix it with water and drink it
I usually eat Mills Kaviar by popping a hole in the end with a swiss knife, then I uncork and open the top, put the selfmade hole to my mouth and then down it like a real champ.
Sometimes on bread alone, sometimes blended out with mayo, ofte with boiled egg and sometimes we just skip the bread and eat egg with caviar.
Bread, butter, mayo, caviar and eggs.
Edit: and some salt and pepper.
Theres some sick fucks that put it on cheese here
Bread, butter, mills mayonnaise, hardboiled egg and kaviar on top. Your welcome
Vegetarian now and Mills kaviar is the only thing I miss. So salty. So tasty. This is how I used to consume it:
On a fried egg.
On a hard boiled egg (put a little kaviar on top of the egg, eat a bit, put some more kaviar on the egg, eat that bit and continue until you have no more egg. Usually three bites)
On a bit of buttered crisp bread or fresh bread. Smear a load of kaviar on top.
On a bit of buttered crisp bread or bread with slices of hard boiled egg. Squeeze that tasty kaviar on top.
On a bit of buttered crisp bread or fresh bread with a slice of white cheese (like Jarlsberg) and kaviar on top (or under the cheese, up to you.)
On a bit of buttered crisp bread: smear on some kaviar and top it with grated parmesan.
In egg mayo. Boil eggs, cut them up, mix in some mayo and a bit of kaviar. Spread it on a slice of bread. The best egg mayo out there.
Enjoy.
Edit: Got excited and forgot a few words
Slice of bread with kaviar, then slices of yellow cheese on top.
bon apetit
We have it in Iceland, and we just put some on bread, maybe with some cheese. This is not exactly fresh caviar like in sushi so the taste is different but If you like fish then you should like it honestly.
Caviar is salt and fishy, so use it on anything you’d use salt and fishy on. Eggs are the prime example
Half an hard boiled egg, caviar on top, and a green olive on top of that. Delicious.
Mills caviar is the best in my opinion, the pink one has a little mayonnaise in it to give it a smoother taste.
There’s only one way to eat it properly, and that is on toasted bread with butter.
Squirt some kaviar on a bread, slap another bread on top.
Fastest kveldsmat in the north.
Either on whole grain bread with hard boiled egg, or on cracker bread on top of cheese.
Hi. That caviar is made by mixing roe and sugar/salt and letting it ferment a bit. So it’s kinda sweet and salty. Eaten on bread. It’s similar to this: [https://www.ateriet.com/swedish-kaviar-what-is-it-the-history-and-how-to-eat-it/](https://www.ateriet.com/swedish-kaviar-what-is-it-the-history-and-how-to-eat-it/)
On a slice of bread, under some cheese slices, and cucumber slices on top. Perfect mix of flavours
Brødskive med kaviar og salami oppå. Njuuuuudelig
Had a buddy that ate a 50/50 kaviar and mayo on a breadslice and liked that. I’m more conventional and largely only eat kaviar with eggs. Straight in a soft boiled or on bread with hard boiled.
I eat kaviar on crisp bread. (Is that the world for knekkebrød?)
Caviar on knekkebrød. Caviar on bread with cheese. Caviar on bread with sliced boiled eggs.
I don’t
Personally, I like mine with sliced hard boiled eggs and Norvegia.
