I don’t see how takeaways and restaurants and pubs will manage…. Who all rely on heat and energy to make profit. They will have to raise prices of food at a time when people have no money…. No one is going to want to buy a £30 pizza.
Schools…. The person in the article has to find £800k for the schools. Not going to happen…. Schools will go freezing.
NHS will see a rise in cold related illnesses because old people won’t be able to afford heat. Then the NHS will have the burden of extra costs for heating the hospitals to keep those people healthy. I can see the NHS collapsing this winter.
I may just be panicking myself…. But I can’t see many business surviving this.
Meanwhile the NIMBYs in my village are opposing a 40 MW solar farm because it will look “industrial”.
The location is ideal because it’s right next to a national grid 400kv substation.
The Tories seem intent on killing the economy one way or another right now. Not content with a poor Brexit and the knock-on effects of COVID, they are now going to oversee businesses going bust over fuel bills. They claim to be the party of economic responsibility and the party of business when they are really just the party of greed.
This is unsustainable. This is going to collapse. Big time.
The Uk will become even more reliant of imports. Why produce something in the UK when you can make it cheaper (due to energy costs) across the channel.
