Made a post asking if Norway was an LGBTQ+ safe country… had a few of these… lol

  1. EDIT: This dude is continuing to reply things like ‘a child is supposed to have 1 mum and 1 dad. The least you could do is let them see their dad. That’s the least you could do’ and ‘fucking freak’ lmao. I’m so coming to Norway.

EDIT2: Ya’ll are so nice! Thank you so much for all of the kind comments and dms.

  2. I’m so sorry. Unfortunately there will be some assholes everywhere you go. But know that Norwegian society as a whole is accepting of most people, except for intolerant jerks like this.

  3. People like this are idiots. I have several gay and lesbian friends, (two of them are trying to have a baby ❤️) , and all of them are welcome and loved and say they feel safe and happy. Some people are just stuck in certain views. Ive gone into arguments with people who say stuff like in your post, and they were against any kind of adoption or IVF treatment, nvm the parents being gay or straight. There will always be idiots in any country.

  4. As a proud brother of a transgender sister and son of a bisexual father, you’re more than welcome here! This nutsack is screaming in the void as far as upstanding, normal Norwegians are conserned

  5. We still have our share of knuckle draggers, but this is a country that generally welcomes LGBTQ+ peeps. We recently had a Christmas advert with Santa having a gay kiss. Made me smile when I heard about it.

  6. Well, if they had to do it in a dm it seems they know well it is not tolerated behavior by the majority.

  7. As it was pointed out in your previous thread, every part of the world has assholes. Most Norwegians are quite decent people.

  8. Just for the reference:

Nice people are welcome. Anyone can be nice whoever and whatever they are. This guy is not nice. This guy is not welcome.

  9. We have a bible belt area along the west and south coast with a few people who have outdated conservative world views, but norway is in general a pretty progressive country. As with most countries the cities are usually more progressive than smaller rural communities. In general though I am proud to say Norway is one of the most LGBTQ+ accepting countries in the world. We aren’t as good as Iceland, but on the pluss side we don’t have to worry about the floor turning into lava

  10. Most people I know don’t mind if you are different. If you’re a good person, they’re gonna love ya! I’m not LGBTQ myself, but Norway is generally a safe country. I hope you com on over. Wish you all the best, and welcome, I’m happy to share my country with you! And if you find a duche, just walk away, or call on our excellent police force. Peace and love❤️

  11. Never wrote a dm in Reddit before now but figured you’d have a positive one to counter some of the negative ones!! All the best!

  12. You will encounter twats in any culture, also the norwegian one.

In 2010, a gay couple holding hands were assaulted in one of the more religious parts of Oslo. The reply to that was that the route of the pride parade was changed to include that part of the city, and has been like that since. You have a couple of weirdos with signs, but no problems.

We always have leading politicians participating in pride, including our gay previous minister of health. We have laws against discrimination. Some individuals have issues with LGBTQ+ stuff, but it’s mostly in religious or very traditional areas, and it is not socially acceptable. The public debate is typically about whether religious communities can discriminate when hiring priests and such.

  13. Well Norway is very friendly in general when it comes to this. Yes there is the occasional asshole/troll that is once attention as an asshole/dickhead I’m sorry you had to experience this. But in general Norway do not mind gay people lesbian people trans people. I mean I’ve lived here for over 30 years and what I mostly see is nice people

  14. Imagine taking time of our your day to harass others like that. You are more than welcome (and honestly, I lived in Essex for three years – I see why you’d want to leave). I come from a small town on the Norwegian country side (north), and can tell you that even on the country side I know several lesbian couples who are married and have children. People are in general very accepting.

  15. My mom became lesbian a few years back, and married her newfound love as soon as it was legal. I have never heard or seen anything negative towards it, and they now have two beautiful small girls ♥️ thanks mom for not abondoning hope after your first failed kids. Never seen you happier.

  16. Im sorry, norway is a really welcoming country once you get past these people Who are a liter shame for this nation

We got a big pride scene and have good laws to protect us

  17. Trust me, none of these people would dare actually say this to anyone had this been a real life interaction. You’re good to visit lol

  18. Also just to add, if he is not a troll he is most likely part of the PDK political party or somethint, a extremist Christian party, its dying out tho happily

  19. Does that person think they’re the ruler of who’s welcome and not of our entire country?? Obviously don’t listen to them lol.

  20. I see a lot of people like this in Facebook comment sections, but they are fucking pussies and will never speak up to you irl.

  21. We don’t appreciate people like you, u/StruggleDe
