Hallo
I’m wondering if anyone here can help me with the criteria for a residence permit for long term stay?
https://australien.diplo.de/au-en/service/01-visa/long-term-visa
According to the website above , Australians such as myself do not require a visa to do so, only need to apply for a residence visa on arrival. The examples it gives are for workers or students though and I am neither.
It goes on to say that the criteria is proof of health insurance and sufficient money to look after myself is required but doesn’t specify an amount for that. It’s likely I do, but their idea of sufficient and mine might differ.
Anyone have more info on whether this type of stay is allowed and where to find further info on the criteria?
Danke schön

So what is your plan?
You realistically need to be either looking for work (with make it in Germany option you have 6 months) or have applied/been accepted to study at a German university. You must have appropriate health care for Germany and funds for studying. There is plenty of information online for either case.
