Irish here, last 6 months have shown what some aggressive neo fascistic countries think of neutrality
As an Irish person I would vote no to join if asked
Probs worth it. It can be lucrative to be a member of NATO; with interventions in Somalia, Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria (a handful of the worlds top oil and natural resource bases) it has resulted in some of the biggest oil contracts in human history after NATO led regime change. Irish oil execs will make a killing.
If anything, this should come down to a referendum in the near future, just to put the question to bed. It’s been in the background of Irish society a lot since the invasion of Ukraine.
We’re neutral in a western realm sense and partners of NATO. The UK defends our Air and Sea with our defence forces.
Right now, a career in the defence forces isn’t an attractive prospect due to low standards of pay.
IMO I am for increasing the DF budget to make a career viable. As for NATO membership, undecided.
But I’d want a referendum at the very least so we can decide and put it to bed for some time. In or out.

Spend 2% on defense first. No more freeloaders.
