Germany was the main producer of ice cream in 2021 in the EU (614 million litres of ice cream) followed by France (459 million litres) and Italy (381 million litres)

    Ever seen a German ice cream shop in another country? Fuck no. But there’s Italian gelaterias all over Germany.

  2. A part from being more populous countries, it may be related on when ice cream is consumed. In Spain ice cream is seen as a summer only dessert, it sells incredible lower quantities in winter. In the Nordics I have seen a more even consumption, even that summer is still king. I do not know how it works for Germany or if what I saw only happens in my circle. But it could be interesting to see if such a difference in consumption exists.

    Google trends shows that, at least, [Germans search more for ice cream on-line during summer](https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&geo=DE&q=ice%20cream), thou. So, I may be wrong.

    And, as expected, ice cream makers push for it to be consumed all year around.
