Felixstowe: Strike set to begin at UK’s biggest container port

  1. “The union said members rejected a 7% pay offer from port operator, the Felixstowe Dock and Railway Company, which it said was “significantly below” the rate of inflation.”

A pay adjustment below inflation is a pay cut. Hope they get an improved offer that matches changes in the cost of living.

Without a union all the power would have been with the employer.

Remember, shareholders want their cut first, and for workers to be given “scraps”

  2. Glorious. Of course I don’t want strikes, but I’m glad workers are demanding proper wage increase to keep up with rampant inflation.

All while this government is still promising measures to make striking/protests harder.

  3. Just to let you all know despite the strikes they are still charging companies £80 per day if your container happens to be in the port, great contact. Still making bank for doing fuck all.

  4. Thanks for the redundancies this will cause, and the empty shelves. Just what the public need.
