Its so weird going to search ‘property for sale dublin’ and seeing the prices.Mind boggling that a few builders threw this together in a few weeks in like 1950 with some brick & mortar, probably for who knows,€5k total cost at the time? And now… its 1.3 million.
If you do a search for Belfast you will see literally identical properties for like 120-200k. Honestly, remove the 1million from this house and I still think €295,000 is quite steep for this.It also surprises me how quickly it is to build a house like this. I’ve seen a few old detached houses near me get flattened and rebuilt in a few months. One day the builders are arriving and next thing you know, its practically finished.
When we bought our house the solicitor sent us over some documents that went over who the previous owners were and when they purchased and all this.
First buyers bought the place in 1979 for 20 grand guy apparently worked in Navan hospital as a porter. And his wife worked in the hospital pharmacy.
I imagine they had that mortgage paid off in 15 years, so long as they stayed employed, and got regular raises.
We paid 320 grand for the same house. Crazy how time, location, inflation, and demand mix together to cause the price to jump exponentially.
