Council criticised for use of ‘environmentally unsound’ bleach in streams near popular beaches

  1. I’ve heard mutterings it’s a contravention of the water pollution act.

Surely we can assemble an independent body that can cut red tape and cut a contract in a case like this, it’s a deletion of wildlife and fishing in the area one bullet at a time

  2. “guidelines on the use of bleaches are not a matter for the EPA”

Well who the feck is it a matter for then, if not the Environment Protection Agency?!?!

  3. Ah yes, reacting when it’s too late, and papering over the cracks, it’s the Irish way. Why not spend that money on enforcing regulations on pollution levels?

  4. unless there is a real problem of kids getting sick from bathing in these streams I don’t understand why the council took it upon themselves to chlorinate the streams as a preventive measure?
