Is it the same in Luxembourg?

  1. It depends where. For the most part, there is some kind of respect between cyclists, pedestrians and drivers. But not always.
Personally, my biggest issues were always with pedestrians who think the cycling path was build for them and that there is no reason for them to step aside. Nor that they should actually stop if the crossing light is red for them and green for cyclists.
However I do love when I see cars stuck in traffic who deliberately crawl into the middle of the street so cyclists cannot pass them 🤦

  2. In my experience I’ve seen drivers be respectful to the cyclists here in Luxembourg
Many a times I have seen a row of cars following one single cycle all the way till the end of the road even when there were opportunities to overtake. But as a cyclist we should also be mindful of our environment and respect the rules. Many places the cycling culture has become toxic

  3. It applies to all the participants: pedestrians, cars, cyclists, motorcycles etc.

Personally, I hate when cyclists do 2 things:
    1. Do not use the dedicated cycling road
    2. Ride without any respect to traffic rules I.e. switching from road to the pavement to use the green light for pedestrians to hop back onto the road into different direction. There is sooo much wrong with being reckless like that.

Additionally, why cyclists do not stop on those little crossings to let pedestrians to cross the cycling path? Shouldn’t same rules as on the actual road apply here?

  4. My issue lies with the cyclists who think the code de la route is only a suggestion. Last week I almost flattened 2 of em at a roundabout because they did not respect my right of way.

  5. I loathe it when I see drivers or cyclists not keeping to the code de la route (in terms of how to behave with each other).
    I hate it, when:
    – a bicycle isn’t equipped with the proper reflectors, lights and bell
    – a cyclist isn’t wearing a helmet and/or a high visibility vest at night
    – more then 2 cyclists are driving next to each other
    – a cyclist using the pedestrian lane to cycle
    – drivers that pass cyclists too closely
    – drivers that swear or honk at them (ur not helping m8)
    – drivers that deliberately smog them with fumes from their car or wet them with windshield cleaner
    – drivers for no reason using the cyclist lane
    – drivers not letting cyclists pass the road on their lane
