UK drought: Why do the trees think it’s autumn already?

  1. Its the lack of water.
During the autumn the tops of the branches recieve less water and gradually the entire trees get less water. You get the same effect during droughts.

  2. They don’t. They aren’t receiving enough water to keep their leaves alive. It’s the same reason the grass is yellow. It’s drying out.
