Berlin government goes on retreat in effort to patch up cracks. In its scramble for unity on tackling the ongoing cost of living and energy crises, Germany’s three-party government has come together for a two-day closed-door meeting outside of Berlin

My hope is that they will negotiate a couple of compromises which are hurtful for their party’s bases but good for the country. E.g. the greens and SPD could agree to an extension of the three nuclear reactors (which is what FDP wants) whereas FDP agrees to finance easing measures through debts and/or an Übergewinnsteuer (tax on companies who made exceptional revenues through the crisis), which is what the other parties want.
Nothing says “Democracy” more than as a many parties as possible colluding to make a government, and having a very weak Opposition.
