  1. *Break the workers by illegally sacking them?*

Nothing to see here carry on.

*Hold a strike under the most stringent anti Union laws in Europe?*

We will just make it harder to strike, and sack the lot of you (see above)

  2. Dodgy Contracts during Covid ….😄

The Nasty Corrupt Party and there voters everyone…..and I’ve missed so much of the shit list of stuff they’ve done/doing

  3. Of course. Mr Shapps is planning the same tactic for the Rail Workers! Can’t prosecute them if you plan to emulate them now!

I’m sure he will forget he condemned them for doing it of course…

  4. Since we left the umbrella of the EU, companies and the government have definitely got more ‘cocky’ in what they think they can get away with, the P&O debacle being one and the rail strike being another.

I wonder what employment laws we left behind when we crashed out of Europe that allows them to get away with this shit-show with zero consequence.

  5. I dont actually have a problem with them not finding a scapegoat to put in jail.

They should absolutely have the government push through a civil action for unfair dismissal though, force P&O to hire back all the employees, hold on to the replacements unless they can properly justify a redundancy, pay all the employees from then until now for missed pay and award costs to the plaintiff.

50 million or so should about cover it.

  6. If the law is inadequate, then the law should be changed. Might not stop this instance but could stop future ones.

One of the steps I would advocate is that all redundancy notices be served in person. Exceptions could be defined but limited. Redundancies/redundancy notices by video, text message, email or other such methods not in person should be deemed not to have been served.

  7. What I’m hearing from this is that P&O Ferries boats should be attacked, sabotaged and sunk, is that correct?

  8. It seems that P&O broke the law in not “consulting” the workforce.

Consultations are always pointless in terms of changing the outcome, although they do give a heads up that redundancies are coming.

There is no law that would have stopped the redundancies

So perhaps the law needs changing, would be helpful if someone suggested in what specific way.
