Hey /r/Iceland!

About a month ago, [I asked for Icelandic-speaking readers](https://www.reddit.com/r/Iceland/comments/qdeyix/icelandic_language_and_culture_in_a_short_story/) to take a look at my science fiction short story. I’m very pleased to say that it got picked up by [Clarkesworld Magazine](https://clarkesworldmagazine.com/), one of the biggest online venues for SF stories. It’s been published today and you can [read it online for free](https://clarkesworldmagazine.com/goodman_12_21/).

I wrote a little bit about how and why I wrote the story on [my website here](https://www.davidgoodman.net/vegvisir-to-be-published-in-clarkesworld).

Huge thanks to everyone who took the time to read it, and especially to /u/nicelawboy who took a great deal of time to help me out with detailed comments and helped me avoid an egregious slur against the noble Icelandic horse. I also had some help from /u/herpaderpmurkamurk over at the [Old Norse subreddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/oldnorse/comments/qw7y8e/checking_spelling_and_characters_of_stanza_47_of/), which was amazing.

I really hope you enjoy it if you give it a read and I hope you like this possible glimpse into the Icelandic/Martian future. I’m happy to answer any questions you might have.

  1. Congratulations on the publication! I had a blast helping you out and I’m glad you chose not to ruffle the feathers of the brutal Icelandic horse lobby, although I’m certain they have their hands full on other fronts right now…

Thanks for the credit, I’m honored.
