  1. I do wholeheartedly support the workers, however is there a reason the pay deal isnt being put to members to vote on? Its their jobs and there life, surely let them decide if they want to accept or not?

  2. Shapps paying for the ballot ? Then he should shut his trap and negotiate.

Shite deal too many strings big fuck off No will be the answer so there isn’t a point.

  3. If they put the deal to a ballot then no further strike action can take place until that resolved.

Often employers will make a desultory offer in an attempt to postpone action.

We don’t know the conditions attached to this offer. Even if it was a significant pay rise, it could be that there would be compulsory redundancies to pay for it. So, whilst it may appear a reasonable offer on the surface, it could mean loss of jobs and more work for remaining staff to cover for it.

  4. Grant Shapps or whatever his name is this week, is under the mistaken impression that he can dictate how other democratic organisations should conduct their business.

Especially given the current shitshow of his own parties leadership election, brexit redo and oligargh money.

  5. “Hi Grant, I’ll take it up with your replacement when you get the sack in 2 weeks. Love, Mick.”

  6. This was the mistake the BMA made a few years ago in the doctors’ strike. They went for a second ballot.

The first ballot had 99% approval. You can only realistically go backwards from there as some people get “strike fatigue” or don’t bother to vote as they think it’s a foregone conclusion.

So the second ballot dropped to something about 80%. Still strong, but suddenly there was a narrative of “losing support” and our poor new doctors today, coming out of Uni, are the ones suffering.
