There are few sources reporting about this in english.
Basically managers at Croatia’s largest gas firm have stolen about 200 million HRK a year (26 mil. EUR). INA bought gas at a predetermined price (pre-crisis) which they then managed to resell at much higher market prices. Predictably, the men (and woman) are connected to HDZ, Croatia’s ruling party. One of the major pieces of evidence that led to their arrest was 500 million HRK found in an account owned by one of the accused. The accused had 500 million HRK in his account despite having a monthly pension of under 4000 HRK. There is an alleged email (I have only seen a screenshot, which can be edited) sent to Croatia’s minister of economy in 2021 warning him of a perceived discrepancy in INA’s cash flow.

That’s the situation as I see it for now.

Extremely underrated cause of rising energy and gas prices – vultures are using complicated scams to do this all across Europe.
