  1. Looks like Louth has absorbed Warrenpoint, Rostrevor Kilkeel etc. on the other side of Carlingford Lough. YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeoWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!! That is the start of it. The rest of Ulster will be absorbed into a one shared Ireland.

  2. Finding shapefiles for Ireland is (very very) difficult. Even the CSO’s shapefiles leave the six counties out, without even an option for a full island map.

  3. It’s a gorgeous map but I wouldn’t accept it with the large chunk missing.

I wonder how many people, particularly Brits and Americans, look at it and do a double take. It’s like seeing someone with a new haircut. You know something’s changed but you can’t put your finger on what it is……..

  4. This is as weird as those weather maps you would occasionally see on British TV where they would _erase_ the rest of the 26 counties and have just the 6 NI ones as their own little island and have blue sea where most of the island should be. Used to freak me out as a child.

  5. Anyone notice that there’s blue where the coast is, but not the border? That’s right, your jokes about the “coast of Monaghan” or the “”Donegal peninsula” are invalid.
