People’s health at risk unless action taken on energy costs – NHS leaders

  1. The harsh reality is that help is unlikely to come for the majority of us. Those on universal credit will get targeted support but those above 25k ish will be left to fend for themselves. The bigger worry is running out of energy, higher prices force lower consumption. So the issue is the higher prices are likely in the best interest of the country as a whole if we want to abound energy rations. I know it’s not what people want to hear but it’s going to be a very rough winter for most.

  2. people will be forced to starve to heat their home. it will only put more pressure on the already strained NHS.

but a tipping point will come and something will burst. because people can only go hungry and ill for so long.

  3. I remember ten years ago when I was living in a cold, damp uninsulated flat on a pre payment meter, I was going cold all the time to save money and jesus I was sick so often.

  4. Ah but higher health risks means more expensive health insurance when the NHS does get fully privatised which means more money in the pocket of donors.

  5. Hospitals simply cannot take on many more patients and social care is all but broken, preventing existing patients being discharged. A cold, damp winter would see the NHS face a crisis like no other and would see a huge spike in excess deaths if nothing is done to help people pay their bills. Naturally, the Tories will do nothing to help anyone and we will all be expected to just put on a stiff upper lip to get through it all.
