Ex-Briton ‘Isis Beatle’ sentenced to life in prison

  1. Well, I hope he enjoys being in a US supermax for the rest of the life.

From what I can tell from a random YouTube documentary he’ll be in a particularly isolated part. A sound proof cell where he won’t even be able to have the comfort of hearing other people scream.

  2. I’m honestly surprised we didn’t seek the death penalty. The federal death penalty has been used very infrequently (just 50 times in the last century), but it has usually been administered for [horrific offenses resulting in death](https://www.bop.gov/about/history/federal_executions.jsp) (rape/kidnap/murder of a child and the Oklahoma City bombing for instance).

It’s pretty hard to argue that 27 beheadings hasn’t earned him a place on the gurney.

  3. Disregarding this individual, I find it abominable that the UK will hand over anyone to be prosecuted in USA, when they will clearly never reciprocate.

The spy’s wife who drove on the wrong side of the road, killed someone and fled from the country comes to mind.

I’m personally of the opinion, that this ‘IS Beetle’ should have been tried in the UK and imprisoned in the UK. And not just him but all individuals that were born, raised and radicalised in the UK and joined IS

The UK needs to take responsibility instead of passing them off as someone else’s problem
