I’ve been getting hour long ads from Vlaams Belang on youtube even though never search anything related to them and would never vote for them.

Just out of curiousity, how do they fill an advertisement of 2 hours ? Do they simply start reading excerpts of Marx, or is it a full length documentary about the party history or something ? Seems like a waste of resources.

On the one hand, i hate ads and I hate political ads and don’t think they should be on youtube.
On the other hand, I have had hundreds of VB and NVA ads which were all slogan thumping bullshit or excerpts from star interviews by Tom van Grieken of BDW on VTM.
And seeing their success, I can definitely see why PVDA’d copy the strategy.
Also I think the length would allow to actually make some in depth political points instead of just repeating slogans. No clue if PVDA actually does this in these ads.

Imo they should ban political adds on social media, when its election time they have alot of rules they have to follow when placing boards etc but on social media its just a battle royal. Brainwashing little kids

2/ I got a 19 minute ad once where Hedebouw was in the senate holding a rant about how non-interventionism is what we should all do.
Our laws on political ads are so outdated… and the people we expect to fix them are the ones who benefit from them..
Political ads should be banned everywhere, not just on TV. If you want to campaign, it should be a debate, so people can openly challenge your ideas
Imagine falling asleep while watching videos and this starts playing and you suddenly wake up as a commie the next day.
Yeah you only get these during working hours, part of the targeting.
I’ve also seen Open VLD upload hour long ads. That’s one way to waste your budget I guess.
It also means the video itself, which is likely on their own youtube is getting terrible viewer retention and even if you look into similar videos you will likely never see their video because of this.
