Keir Starmer insists he is ‘absolutely’ behind workers as more strikes loom amid cost of living crisis

  1. well behind…

Wake up matey as people are getting angry with you judging by the Reddit index of pissed off would be Labour voters!

  2. Didn’t he lash out at strikers just a few weeks ago?

EDIT: I shouldn’t have asked this this way, I might be misremembering. Genuinely asking

  3. There’s a very important rule when it comes to writing literature. It’s called the rule of “show, don’t tell”. It means that, where appropriate, you should always choose to engage the reader with direct action, as opposed to burying them under meaningless piles of static exposition. It is always better to show a person doing something as opposed to just having them say that they did something.

I think somebody needs to teach Keir this rule.

  4. Labour missing yet another open goal, if only we had a strong Labour party then at least the Tories wouldn’t be so blatant with how they are running the country into the bottom of the bucket.

  5. Comes across like he’s just reacting to the anger now but because it’s taken this long it just seems insincere.

    He’s learning though I suppose…

Will take more than that to get any trust back though.

  6. What about people who cannot strike. Those employed by small companies who themselves are struggling to survive. Maybe a coach or haulage company for example.

  7. Is he actively shitting on workers, trying to remove right to strike or even assemble and calling UK workers lazy? No? Then better than the Tories.

Of course if you would prefer whichever Thatcher worshipper the Cons decide is horrid enough to lead them to decide what workers get, well…

  8. He probably is. Isn’t he more supportive of workers and unions getting conversations going to get higher pay, rather than cause more disruption?

The far left corbynites just love to spin that he isn’t because it goes with their “Starmer is a Tory narrative”

  9. Keir is absolutely behind workers as long as they aren’t asking for living wages and definitely not if they are thinking of striking

  10. Politics has shifted so much over the past few years that neither party is particularly relevant. Those that vote for either are nostalgically rehashing tribal divisions that no longer exist. Labour will not rip into Brexit because many of their historic vote actually wanted it…The Tories are still confused as to how to react to their last election result. What we have therefore is a non functioning Westminster…I would like to see a small party go viral and get a large vote..that might make everyone re evaluate…I will not hold my breath!

  11. The fact a Labour leader has to come out and confirm they are behind workers is astonishing to me.

If Labour had any other leader I’d be confident in a red win should a general election come along, but this guy makes Boris Johnson look competent.

  12. This reminds me of Blackadder goes forth, where the general tells Blackadder that “he is right behind him”, and Blackadder replies something along the lines of “yes general, about 15 miles behind us”.

  13. Well behind the picket lines till the wind blows in his favour then a quick rush to the front with a ‘follow me!’.

  14. The fact he even needs to make a statement about this says it all. Actions speak louder than words, its quite clear Keir wants to distance himself from anything too ‘laboury’.

  15. I love how much I’m seeing about kier not doing this and kier not doing that at the moment.

Why aren’t we focusing on the actual government? Yknow, the ones who can actually do something? Ah yes. They’ve vanished… let’s blame Labour

  16. He’s got a very funny way of showing it, seeing as every time it’s come up until now, he’s been complaining about strikers…
