  1. Well, that’s a fucking shitty map to look up if there’s a dump in your area… No town or street names, and only major roads visible…

  2. This map still misses a lot of old industrial sites, it only reflects historical dump sites.

eg HAL5 Leuven: used to be industrial site where use of heavy metals etc was not uncommon, now kids play in that sand…

  3. I looked up my house, and we have a dump on the other side of the road.

It’s a combination of 3 dumpsites with “bagger” and “inert afval”. Not sure if I should be ok with it or not. Especially the “bagger” seems like a potential hazard.

  4. This map doesn’t say too much since all of these sites are historical and officially registered.

What you should be scared about is how shit of a job the government does with sanctioning current polluters as we’ve seen with 3M. They paid the 70K administrative fees and settled the case with the cabinet of Ben Weyts without further action needed.

  5. It’s incredible to me how desperately we need organizations like Pano to discover shit like this.

There is no responsibility and barely any accountability it seems.
