So sad. He seemed like such a lovely and warm man. RIP Bill.
Very sad, I loved watching Bill before work (back in the office days)
Was just talking about him yesterday, rewatching his House of Games appearance which was one of the funniest weeks ever on the show.
Very sad news
Wow that’s completely unexpected. RIP, always enjoyed watching him
Seemed such a genuine guy, 66 seems no age at all – rip Bill
Really sad. He made getting up super early that little bit more bearable when he was on BBC breakfast
Knew his prostate cancer was terminal but IIRC he was told he could have another 10 or 15 years. Wasn’t expecting this. Very sad
When I woke up for comprehensive school and college growing up in the UK, and went downstairs my mom would always have BBC Breakfast on, and Bill Turnbull was always the host I enjoyed listening to the most. A great presenter, and great person too. Rest in peace.
Gutted by this, his was the only breakfast show I could reliably stomach. Prostate Cancer kills 33 men in the UK every day.
Rip that’s a terrible sham, didn’t know he was that old though.
What a shame.
I used to watch the morning show with my mum while I had breakfast before school in the morning and he was always nice to listen to.
RIP
I watched GMB this morning, and Sky News later, and wasn’t aware of this until I came here.
Sad news. I used to watch him while getting the children ready for primary school. He always seemed like a nice man.
I watched breakfast if Bill was presenting. Always came across as a decent sort.
He did a really fun book on bee keeping that’s worth a read. Very funny.
Always thought prostate cancer was a treatable and containable type , so I’m surprised to hear about this. Rest in Peace.
Bill was a good sort, he had his passions (seem to recall bees?) and he’d share in the excitement of the guests. He was a genuine kinda guy and I really enjoyed his warmth in the mornings, everything he said and did after his career only made me feel more like he was who he presented as.
I don’t really invest too much emotion in celebrity deaths but maybe there’s something about being a personable bloke who isn’t threatening in the slightest sitting there talking to you every morning that if you like them, it hits a little harder.
He was a great member of the BBC team, he will be missed.
Watched a programme awhile back where he was trying weed for the first time, he couldnt stop giggling. Came across as a really nice guy.
Aww. No way. I always enjoyed him as a presenter.
RIP Bill
He seemed like a really genuine person too.
This should also be a reminder for men to get their prostate checked yearly. Bill was very unlucky because prostate cancer has a much better prognosis than most cancers, especially when caught early.
Oh shit. Sorry Bill RIP buddy, you did make me smile in the mornings.
Dying in your thirties or forties?
“Tragic.”
Fifties?
“Such a shame.”
Sixties?
“Too soon.”
Seventies?
“A good run.”
Eighties?
“A life well lived.”
Nineties?
“Hell of a ride.”
I went from school, through college and into work with Bill in the morn. I might have hated waking up every morning but his kind tones had a way of taking to edge of every morning. RiP Bill, love ya x
Legendary Wycombe Wanderers fan. Also a top bloke. RIP.
So sad. Another decent human being gone too soon. 😭 Rest in peace Bill x
