I wonder how normal polish citizens feel about this topic. In my opinion Poland should stop bitching about reparations everytime an election comes up. In Germany this topic will only play in the hands of the far right parties.

Everyone in Germany knows this is about PiSboys and how they want to get more votes for the next polls. But it’s miserable and pathetic to send this message to a generation of Germans that want friendship with Poland and a productive cooperation in the EU. It only feeds the worst kind of voters on both sides.

I mean besides the fact that the Eastern Prussia is a massive piece of reparation: just that it happened as “compensation” for Poland losing it’s Eastern region means it’s wholly on the USSR… so where are reparation demands against Russia?
Additionally: Poland LOST the war. They were liberated by virtue of Nazi Germany being defeated by the Western Allies and the USSR… but they nominally still lost the war, so they don’t exactly get to demand victor’s terms here. Like of course morally reparations are a different question… but “legally” in terms of the rules of war Poland has absolutely no entitlement to any reparations here.
But not from Russia?

PIS has huge problems – their social policy means nothing because of inflation, their nationalistic approach is silly for more and more people. Experts say that there is no chance for them to rule in 2023, but they still have a chance to be the biggest party in the parlament. So the thing is: how big the rulling collision will be in 2023? By and large people are so fed up with PIS that even Donald Tusk is not so frightening as he was in past…
And now they want money from Germans? When Poles are paralysed by the Ukrainian conflict, inflation, China..
I’m not an expert but wasn’t this resolved with the German unification?
They will need the money in case EU funding remains blocked.
