A thousand pounds worth of chocs and drinks eh? Must of almost completely filled a carrier bag with all that stuff.
What kind of fucking low life scum do you have to be to rob a food bank of all places? Jesus christ.
Desperate people will resort to desperate measures .. God only knows what people will do once they find out how much our politicians living expenses they put on expenses and who really pays for it.
It’s a food bank, those ‘desperate people’ only had to ask if they needed food. These are opportunistic thieves.
My first instinct on seeing this is a right wing group did it because you shouldn’t be getting mars bars and the like at a food Bank, the shampoo they nicked i can’t explain though, maybe the burglars stunk and wanted a shower afterward
Lowest of the low
I imagine this will be solved pretty quick considering our police have to use foodbanks.
Robbing a charity, a very good way to say your a cunt.
You know these people will never feel empathy for what they did either. They will think they are geniuses for doing this and happily brag about it to anyone who will listen.
The story isn’t that the thieves robbed a foodbank. Its that food banks have treats and not “essentials”
I can already see the Express readers going apeshit.
Robbing Sainsburies isnt even unethical, should be encouraged even.
Do that instead.
You’ve gotta be a special POS to Rob a food bank.
This is usually the middle part of the sci-fi movie, before the hero comes to rescue us.
Catch them, then give them the choice… 2 years in jail or 8 months working for and supporting food banks in their area
Bloody stoners
What’s that these days? 20 freddos and a pepsi?
I imagine its exactly the same type of person that we’ve seen on the tiktok/instagram videos raiding those candy shops in london. The major cities, and now even smaller cities, are turning in to a third world hellscape.
Thats like two freddos
I only needed to see the word “foodbank” to know that this was on a UK based sub. How fucking depressing if that.
“£1000 worth of chocolate and fizzy drinks” is this where those kids who sell kets in school at break time get their stock?
What’s more depressing than a food Bank.. Survey says!
#BrokenBritain
Find the bastards and cut off all of their benefits.
Who’s donating fizzy drinks and chocolate?
They better eat their dinner
It’s going to get much worse than this sadly..
Why is a food bank storing rather unhealthy snacks rather than, actual food.
Looks like it’s a popular thing to do. The same thing happened in Wales last night:
One i went to was pretty good leftovers from Waitrose, Tesco ,Sainsbury..Friday was bread day ..loads of bread ,rolls …Tuesday, Veg day ..
Got some expensive veg and branded cans .
Probably about 1k of food they had go thru ..
Reddit: “If you see people stealing food, no you didn’t”
Reddit when someone steals food: 😡
Crimes like this are why the stocks should be brought back. You shouldn’t be able to throw things at people but lowlifes like this deserve to be publicly shamed in front of the community they’ve robbed.
I mean really? Ransack a Tesco or something, it’s a drop in the ocean for them. Stealing from a foodbank is ultimate dick move.
£1000s seems a bit unrealistic.
You would have to steal a ridiculous amount to reach £1,000.
Like 20 boxes of Mars Bars. 50 trays of Fanta.
Gut feeling is that the numbers are being fudged or some members of staff have sticky fingers.
Can we have more robin hood and less shit like this
Government ransack entire country stealing Billions worth of tax payers money for their Cronies and…oh wait this is the UK. I forgot no one actually gives a shit we just like complaining.
The comments here are so dense.
“If you see somebody stealing something, no you didn’t!”
Yeah, products from a mega corporation who won’t even notice, not chocolate bars and fizzy drinks from a food bank.
Literally stealing candy from hungry, deprived kids and this sub is saying its okay lmao.
Should have just browsed around the left overs at the reading music festival.
When i hear stuff like this i think we should have an island we send them to like something really remote with fuck all on it. That or some kind of death by chocolate and fizzy juice.
I was at a Tesco self-checkout last week and watched a small group of 16-17-year-olds scoop armfuls of Haribo packets out of the donation box and scarper while laughing and swearing. A kind shopper had probably donated them thinking they’d be a small treat for young kids going without any luxuries right now. Sigh.
This is a disgusting new level of low, but with the cost of living crisis I can’t help but feel this is the start kf some bad behavioural trends we are going to see over the next 18 months.
Both my Mrs and I have degrees and reasonably paying jobs. With our children, mortgage, 1 car and frugal lifestyle we have still been pushed into a working class/poverty bracket (that’s not identified), when we worked so incredibly hard to stay just above it.
We don’t have much left over at the end of the month, and we don’t go on annual holidays etc.
Whats going on in the world is despicable. I’m going to choose to believe until otherwise proven that whoever took this, regardless of other commenrs about being opportunistic etc is either really struggling or trying to help out other friends and family members who are having a hard time.
was it a gang of 12 yr olds? What the heck!
So the robbing of food banks has begun, we’ve hit a new low as a country.
