Ive always wondered why society allows its most disabled to live in poverty. As if life isnt hard enough for them.
The £7,000 per year figure would wipe out medium rate DLA AND carers allowance
As harsh as it sounds, most weren’t able to afford much in the way of heating as it was, you hear horror stories about those on disability benefits all the time. This just means many will be able to afford absolutely nothing. It is no wonder we are condemned for how we treat the disabled.
remember if you see someone stealing to feed their kids you don’t see a fucking thing, a tent in the woods? nope, someone living in their car? you are blind.
Wages for millions ‘to be rendered worthless’ by soaring energy bills | The working and middle class
Haha, im in serious danger.
Sounds like the perfect Tory plan. Oh sure, we’ll stop being so strict about being able to qualify, but energy bills and inflation have eaten away so much of the value of those benefits that they’re essentially worthless anyway.
Tories rubbing their hands at the future saving as disabled people freeze to death
Some media outlets are firmly focused on energy costs but ignore food, other utility and housing costs.
Could the reason be that Truss has a giveaway planned for energy but not for anything else and that’s their plan?
Anybody on the below benefits can qualify for the ECO4 scheme which installs energy efficient measures like insulation, heat pumps and solar panels completely free.

Wages to be rendered worthless due to the cost of living rises
I wont lie, I’m actually bricking it with what’s to come, Im on PIP and ESA (and as a couple we’re on UC, my partner works, but we’re still below thresholds). I’ve already cut all my hobbies, we swapped to budget food, I’ve even started growing some of my veg (I’m a bad gardener/farmer). There’s nothing else we can cut short of dropping the dogs off at a shelter and I would rather starve than let that happen. And to top it all off… PIP review tomorrow that’s been delayed a year already and for people that have been through that, you know the dread of loosing the little income we have
I get £788 a month for disability including PIP. Probably couldn’t afford to live on my own 🤷♂️
