  1. …. Future Tory MP

Laying the groundwork to be parachuted into a safe seat.

….. One of the good ones, just like Priti.

  2. What the F is wrong with these pathetic attempts at being the token anything to show that non-WASPs can be cunts to?

Her name is Zewditu Gebreyohanes ffs. She would be the first on a plane to Rwanda if Patel had her way.

  3. Graduated 2020 with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. Not seeing a relivant skillset.

  4. So she graduated in 2020, that makes her all of 23 years old, what exactly are her credentials to be appointed as a trustee to one of the most prestigious museums in the UK?

  5. Well I don’t think they could have picked someone further removed from people working there than a political functionary, massaged into a leading role at the institution at 23 after having recently graduated.

  6. Everytime I see someone complaining about things being “woke”, it’s bc they are angry bc they are being called out for making some horrible statement or bc they think they should be free to make horrible statements. If your like revolves around demeaning and belittling others, you have bigger problems to worry about.

  7. Her first job should be banning the Guardian.
Biggest bunch of woketards on the planet.
Then she should get all the readers addresses off their subscription list and confiscate all their money.

  8. Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t help but find it rather unnerving that “woke” has gone from a term used only really used by weirdos who spend to much time on the internet (like me) to being common place in both mainstream media and the highest reaches of the government.

  9. So many questions….

How did she become such a bigot considering she was only born in 1999?

How the fuck does she hold such a prestigious job considering she’s not long graduate university?

Biggest one for me. Why are some younger BAME people so anti-woke? I just don’t get it.

  10. “anti-woke” … translates to “I want to still be racist and not face the consequences which I shall simply call cancel culture”. What out dated id**ts.

  11. She looks about 12. How the fuck has she got such a high ranking position?

“I am a final year student of Philosophy, Politics and Economics.”

Oh, she’s a PPE wanker. Jobs for the boys.

  12. Well, I’m glad that this young women who’s from multiple oppressed groups is getting into a position of power.

This is what we want in society.

  13. Some of these comments (and many of the people on this sub no doubt) are damn thick.

Being anti-woke does not mean being racist. It means that you don’t believe that every societal problem boils down to race and gender, and that you don’t go for the idea that this country is inherently racist in everything it does. It’s hilarious to watch some of these commenters motherboards start smoking as they put the idea of a female ethnic minority being “anti-woke” together. There’s countless examples of ethnic minorities campaigning against the new way of thinking. Check out the Equiano Project as one example of black voices dissenting from “wokeism”.

I understand that getting your head around the idea that you’re not enlightened or automatically a good person for spouting identity politics related nonsense is difficult, and that it requires a modicum of critical thought and some understanding of nuance to comprehend that, despite what much of the establishment says, not everything boils down to race and gender. My comment is therefore going to be downvoted to oblivion by people for whom this is difficult to hear, and I’m here for it 🙂.

  14. Looks like all the Conservatives have left is this culture war bullshit they imported from the US.

Aside from a handful of terminally online lefties on twitter, how many people in the UK every unironically called themselves “woke”.

I guess it does go to show the power of propaganda. The right wing media floods their readers with this kind of stuff and gullible idiots get outraged over nonsense in place of real issues.

  15. >Rusty Elvidge, a managing director at Credit Suisse, who advises ultra high net worth entrepreneurs

Oh coool an elitist determining what angle of history is seen. Protecting their own.

I did a bit of a deep dive into this NT controversy and found it was centred around educating visitors on the slave links some land owners/property have, and mandating the wearing of pride lanyards as well as unconscious bias training for volunteers , which to be fair is nonsense and not scientifically proven to be of any value.

So ‘woke’ in this instance is basically showing a balanced perspective of history and acknowledging a key milestone in history. Basically conservatives allergic to change and wanting to protect the status quo.

  16. Ex V&A-er here. This doesn’t surprise me in the least bit, there is already the massive Tory Nicholas Colridge on the board, a man so posh it is hard to understand him when he speaks.

I wouldn’t be too concerned about this appointment – the V&A is filled with incredible minds who are used to working around political machinations and there has been a massive shift in the understanding and practice of museums, who they are for and what they do. The underlying practice of revealing multiple stories through research, uncovering the hidden and building new narratives is central to curators’, public programmers’ and learning teams’ work.

An inevitable outcome of this is that hidden histories around colonialism, the hegemony of Western thought and whose voice gets authority, are brought out and told. There will be kick back within the inistitution and it’ll be sly, clever and powerful.

  17. We do need some balance, the woke movement has become quite extremist over the last few years. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
