Multi-agency response to major road incident in Cork

  1. I’m going to be that dickhead but look, we should probably reconsider people over 70 or 75 having more through checks if they’re okay to drive. I don’t know what the cause of the crash (or any of them) but the fact that two elderly people in the same car died shouldn’t be ignored as a potential factor. An 80 year old woman died 4 days ago a single vehicle collision in Cork as well. In August a woman in her 90s was killed in Mayo. In June a man in his 80s died when his vehicle collided with another (Irish Times’ phrasing not mine). If these deaths were all young people (young men as their crash stats are higher apparently) the RSA and the likes would be all up in the media requesting young people to drive more carefully, think about the consequences of drink driving and speeding.
