  1. Remortgage the house you bought for a shilling and a grape and you’ll be fine.

Edit – it would seem I need to add the /s

  2. Tories will obviously help them…. Then it’ll be back to “well we managed why can’t you?! ” and vote for them at next election.

Honestly im fed up of these “won’t someone think of the elderly” articles…. Because almost everyone after that generation has it 10x harder and gets no support… With them still paying £900 rents or increasing mortgage rates on expensive starter homes… Rising petrol costs to and from work, unreliable and low paid work, £600 bills etc.

  3. Very little sympathy at this point. It’s the same old people who put these conservative criminals into Downing Street. Reaping your reward comes to mind. The “I’m ok” generation

  4. I’m sure the comments on this post will be full of kind and compassionate people with a sane and realistic view of the world.

  5. Add in death by flood due to climate change and there’s another nice little triple lock for the poor old things. Congratulations on voting Tory.

  6. “They should be grateful! Most people around the world don’t get to actually choose how they die” – Liz Truss

  7. My mum argued for keeping an open working fireplace in their old house, despite my dad being a bit afraid of open fires. They’re just gonna hole up in that room for the winter with blankets and books. I’m glad they have that as a option, I’m furious they even need to think about it.

  8. Its interesting to see how the tories, all about dishing out pensions while pushing the retirement age back making a “in” club, is finally seeing their actions affect their largest voter base.

  9. Not just elderly. I’m not keen on this specificity. Its almost as if nobody’s thought of the hard-working poor or the disabled.

  10. I feel more sorry for the young; statistically-speaking the old farts of this country voted Brexit and vote Tory like their life depends on it.. oh…

  11. We need all the working class to vote the Tories out. I know several relatives who are facing ruin with the Bills, have never voted in their lives, and moan how bad things are. If all these non voters would vote it 2ould change the political landscape

  12. The pensioners should setup house shares like young people do. 4 pensioners each living alone move to the biggest house (owned by the 4) share the bills, have company and support without the rules and cost of a care home.
Frees up 3 houses helping the housing crisis
    If I ruled the world!!

  13. ..This is before we get food shortages from non existent harvests in Europe..all lookng a bit grim …🥴
