What does that means exactly? 😵‍💫

  1. There will likely be delays as the trains are only allowed to go at walking pace or might be stopped completely for the safety of those ~~idiots~~ persons near the tracks.

  2. it could also mean that it was a jumper and the person is “near” the track as splattered on the front of the train.

  3. There are track works or repair going on nearby which involves people being around doing said works. The train will pass slower than usual.

  4. Each time I saw that message it was because of a suicide.. the time that the “parquet” has to move to the scene and analyse the situation, that’s why they need to block the trains.

It could also happen because idiots are trying to steal copper cables

People.. a rope is so much cheaper than what your family will have to pay ..

  5. A propos

I went to Antwerp last week by train.

Mechelen station is in process to become something totally new, a lot of work

Hopefully it goes faster than Ghent… Wink

When you are at the modern perron you see the difference lol

Also Dendermonde needs a new station, the ‘onkruid’ is unbelievable

  6. People running on the tracks, it happens a lot. For some reason they also enjoy doing it on Eurostar tracks? (Like that train is fast and quite scary)

  7. I take the train from brussels to antwerp daily and more often than not the trainmoves at a snails pace when near Mechelen station. Im just at Mechelen and its a snails pace again.

  8. This happens constantly nowadays. People really don’t realise how dangerous it is plus how expensive €3000).
It causes delays which makes travellers frustrated and rightfully so.

As a trainconductor (treinbestuurder) it gives me a heartattack each time.

    *Please Please Please Please STOP!*

  9. I also read that people attempting to commit suicide tend to hang around the tracks for a while before proceeding, thus when a train driver spots someone and reports it police/others have to be cautious when approaching the person.

  10. Best case scenario: There’s a person on the tracks.

Worst case scenario: There’s person on the tracks.

(I really hope it’s not a suicide or just a collision that’s traumatizing for the driver.)

  11. That their is a person on the tracks, first one to beat them and not slip on their drool gets their ticket reimbursed.

  12. Also, the sighting of a person on the tracks doesn’t imply a perfect location. Eg if somebody on a train sees someone, often they can only say between station X and Y.

So if they start looking and they find the “lost” people, they can immediately cancel the alert. But often it becomes a waiting game until the responsible feels sufficiently safe that they are gone.

  13. That’s because Mechelen is a hotspot for people who like to walk on rails.

You do not want to know how many delays I’ve had because people are being suicidal or idiots around Mechelen.
